| 1399699 | 2015-05-03 04:51:00 | You can get into a Mac from $750 Technically yes, but most people would go for a laptop of some description - including me. I like the portability. |

| 1399700 | 2015-05-03 05:12:00 | I thought that is what is happening with windows 10, free upgrade if you already have windows, and only available if buying new hardware. Then again I can't see where there would be a scenario where you would want to buy a copy of windows10 as a standalone product. Windows 10 is only free to those who have W7 or above. Theres still plenty of people running XP & Vista, for them they will have to pay for it. Also: Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 8/8.1 Enterprise users are not eligible for the free upgrades to Windows 10 unless they have Software Assurance in place. |

Will all W8.1 data be safe? Thanks. PJ PS. I don't suppose that it would be safe for me to do, given my reputation for stuffing things up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PJ |

PJ I believe it will come through as an optional update which you can choose to have or not. |

| 1399703 | 2015-05-05 05:36:00 | A 10" screen is still a computer. And suitable for a student. a raspberry pi is also a computor (can be). So are the new usb stick PC's . Doesnt make them usable as every day PC/workstations a 10" screen isnt a good experience , dont try & fob them off to students . :-) MAC made the best decision ever by only allowing their OS to run on their hardware. Otherwise , it would have been as bad as win: installed on cheap & nasty underpowered unreliable crap hardware. |

| 1399704 | 2015-05-05 05:55:00 | I believe it will come through as an optional update which you can choose to have or not.Thats what I've read as well :) I doubt it will be a "I'm installing like it or not" type thing, I suspect there will be prompts advising. Is downloading it onto W8.1 going to cause any problems. Will all W8.1 data be safe? Thanks. PJ No one can answer that. One would hope it all goes as it should, BUT like any upgrade, you should ALWAYS have a complete backup "just in case" Making an image of the original install to another source ( USB Drive or network storage) just before allowing any upgrade is a wise move, that way if something does go wrong you kick the cat, swear ( just a bit) and restore the original. Sometimes if upgrades fail Windows will roll back to how it was, other times it wont. |

| 1399705 | 2015-05-05 22:59:00 | Is downloading it onto W8.1 going to cause any problems. There will allways be issues with a few laptops & PC's. Most will be OK, some will have minor, fixable issues, some will be trashed & need a reload (that should be a rare occurance). Just wait a month or 2, untill any bugs & issues are sorted out. It will be well tested by then. If your PC/Win is a real mess or flakey, then keep your fingers crossed when doing the upgrade  |
