1408621 2015-09-22 06:03:00 Its actually got nothing to do with people getting on and Admin rights.

Seen it plenty of times, someone removes the password using a email account. One of several things can happen, most common one is they go into the MS store or web mail, don't sign out, and the Apps don't sign out correctly when shutting down - next start they are asked for a Password -- HELLOOOO No password to be given, so they are locked out, there's ways around it, the easiest is if you have another PC. But when you have a Local and email account its easy enough to switch between the two and save any problems.

1408622 2015-09-22 11:28:00 Well that would be annoying, but the method I showed does not remove the password you still have it you just don't need it to log on. If I activate my lock screen for example (windows key +L) I need the password to get back on, same if I log out but don't shut down (I think, might have that wrong), I need the password to log back in. All netplwiz is doing is letting you start windows without the password, not removing it from the user account. You do still have to know your password, but you don't need it as often.

If what you are meaning is they don't remember the password when asked for it because they never use it, well that's a problem but one should always know the password :) I think windows occasionally asks for the password for certain admin tasks as well.

1408623 2015-09-23 09:59:00 power options > system setting > untick require a password on wake-up

The lock screen is a bit trickier so I haven't done that.

Dug went through: start, settings, system, power & sleep, sleep : entered never. nothing there on "password on wake-up".

So it still continues as before.

Thanks anyway.

1408624 2015-09-23 10:41:00 weird, was looking at it when I posted that and now I can't find it the same way.

Try this, ctrl panel > system & security > Power Options > There's a tick box for Don't require a password

1408625 2015-09-26 00:39:00 Thanks dug will leave it to our PC Guru. W10 apparently needs 4gig to make it happy.

The system settings appear to be the same as W7, XP control panel for me any day.
