1408531 2015-09-20 04:39:00 Did you give WMP a good test? I think it's a new version on W10

After upgrading Mrs Micro's 11" Pavilion 2-in-1 to W10 I decided to test its video playing ability with the most demanding video file I could lay my hands on. 4k @ 100 Mbits/s on an SDXC card. It played perfectly. (For comparison, Adobe Premiere CS6 defaults to 5 Mbit/s when encoding full HD for tablets. So 100 Mbit/s is 20x more demanding.)

I also pulled HD from a WD TV Live media player over Wifi and simultaneous relayed the 2-in-1's screen to the TV, also over Wifi. It worked so well I fell into thinking the TV was playing directly from the media player

I suppose some of this good performance is due to the Pavilion's hardware (even though it was under $600) but I also wonder if WMP has been made more efficient

(I like MPC-Classic the best on my W7pro64 desktop but it often stops working)

Strange media player classic has always worked flawlessly for me, I did have the black edition for a couple of years too which has some extra features.

1408532 2015-09-20 08:26:00 I am still on win7 using MPC-HC player. You could try this giveaway for Win10:

1408533 2015-09-20 09:41:00 Thanks for that link Blanco. I installed DVDfab Media Player (accidentally got the free version) and it showed exactly the same problems as MPC-HC!

At which point I realised the problem was me, not MPC-HC.

I did some digging and found that a utility called PrecisionX or something that provides an overclock GUI for my EVGA GTX970 is the culprit. I closed it and everything is now fine. (I should have twigged earlier - PrecisionX interferes with Google Earth Pro)

Should I have downloaded the Pro version of DVDfab's Media Player?

1408534 2015-09-20 09:48:00 Actually I've just updated to the Pro version.

All I had to do was insert the promo code into the version I already had
