| 1408511 | 2015-09-18 06:39:00 | I have a friend with a desktop running W7 - the machine is fairly low spec but she cannot afford to replace it.... Normally she preferred Internet Explorer to open at the Yahoo NZ page but now it is opening with MSM (or MSN?).... I tried locating the Yahoo site and going to Tools/Internet Explorer and setting the home page at current.... then we ended up with a Yahoo error message which said the techs were trying to fix it.... I tried delete the MSM string under the tools menu but that didn't help.... at present she has to have it open at MSM and then manually insert the Yahoo link.... this is a bit of an irritation - any suggestions for a cure please? TIA Guess I could load Chrome or Firefox.... but she is comfortable with IE..... |

Try this - Go back into Tools/Internet Options - Advanced Tab, click on the following two buttons- Restore advanced Settings and Reset. This will wipe out all settings, passwords etc & restore the originals. You more than likely will get the Welcome message again from IE. Once reset, then open IE again and try to reset the home page to what you want. |

| 1408515 | 2015-09-19 05:57:00 | Well I have had a few hiccups on my IE so I used the process you suggested and all seems fine now.... so I will try it out on my friend's PC.... we are both running AVG free - I have not had an issue with changing the home page to what I want so far.... | Bryden (4161) | ||

The go back into control panel ,internet, set home page to www.yahoo.co.nz Then start IE , close it & reopen ,the 2nd time yahoo will come up. Yahoo is so full of ads , Im not that surprised it doesnt work. The other option is to set her up with google as the home page, and have yahoo as a bookmark. Will require a bit of training but google loads much faster than yahoo, especially on slower internet connections. |
