497688 2006-11-09 04:11:00 Recapping, after living comfortably within a 1GB cap for 5-6 years, in my last billing period prior to getting a 2GB cap under Go Express I ran 700MB over my limit. I mentioned this overrun in a previous thread, and sombody wanted to know what they had charged when the day of reckoning arrived.

Well, the bill came in today, and the cost was $140.00 i.e. 20c per MB.

When I mentioned this, No.1 son went green around the gills and muttered something about downloading MP3s "for homework". I was tempted to stick him with it too, but truth must prevail and I guess it was me who was responsible. :(

Cheers

497690 2006-11-09 05:33:00 I think once I had $160 for dialup, 12.95 for 150hr then the overage 2.50 per hour. think i clocked up the last hours on the last few days of its billing cycle :D I can just laugh it off. Nomad (952)
497691 2006-11-09 06:30:00 Did they send you an email when you were about to go over? developer (4447)

Nope. I guess the same would hold true for broadband?
I downloaded a Adobe demo software.

Edit.
My last cycle I went over by seven bucks too :D No email either. I think its our responsibility to check online or by telephone if not I guess then we are happy to pay the excess fee.

Yes, you are warned at about 80% I think, and I use "Traffic Usage Checker" to monitor progress throughout the month (excellenf program). I have never had any problem staying under the 1GB, as incredible as that may sound, but then I'm not a P2P user and nor do I download demos or video clips, except for the odd humorous item that catches my eye.

497694 2006-11-09 11:56:00 I've done $700 on dialup before :( That was a bad month. I was working at the time so all of it went to pay that off.
The next month I was locked in with $40 in national calls to Samoa. Funny thing is that it was in the dead of night around 2am and I was on holiday. So unless someone came into my house to make a phone call I was caught again.

They tried pinning it on spyware on my computer.

Sounds to me like they got it spot on there.
