497682 2006-11-09 02:58:00 Hello members
My setup is on broadband through a Linksys wag54gp2 router modem.
It is quite commen that when I like to check the mail and or get some info from the net, after an hour or so of not using it, that it takes a while of trying through browser and again and again the mail till it connects to the net. It also has on a regular occasion the ballon showing"network cable is unplugged" and then again "local area network is now connected".
It is very frustrating!!!!
I changed the cable, checked the connections, rang Telecom and Linksys no solution yet??
I will get the neighbour with his laptop to connect to the router/modem to see if the problem persists with another machine or if it is specific my machine?

Does anyone of you know what the problem may could be??

Any help is appreciated very much.

Thanks

G

497684 2006-11-09 07:00:00 If your PC is going into "standby" after a period of non-use it is probably powering down the network adapter.

Under Control Panel - Power Options, set system standby to "never".
