Its possible but not easy. The easier option would be to download Xubuntu. |

You might want to try a different distro if you want to modify things heavily. Ubuntu is really designed to work out of the box, not to be fiddled with. That's why there are different versions for different desktops in the first place.
I personally don't particularly like Xfce. I would suggest also trying Fluxbox, which I have found to be very good. |

I would like to try Xfce desktop is it possible with Kubuntu OSYes, this should be possible. If I remember correctly, installing the 'xubuntu-desktop' meta-package will install the whole Xubuntu XFCE environment, and will add it to the list of display managers (you can cheese which to use at the login screen of KDM). |
