| 497811 | 2006-11-09 23:43:00 | Having a time trying to get a decent sound level thru my sound card here in the Enermax with a C-Media onboard sound card. Is there an incompatability issue here...or am I just too dumb to find the right mixer-setup for it? I have both the required drivers installed, the whgl_349_24025 went in first, and then reboot and put in the other: wintv2k412_24054, both straight from the company itself. In the mixer control panel, I have .wav disabled, the mike is off and physically switched off at the mike too, MIDI interface is switched off and all I am trying to use is the Line In jack on the C-Media from the Line-Out on the Hauppauge card. I can hear some sound, but I really have to crank the vol 'way up on the amplifier on the speakers and that causes hum...60 cycle hum type plus some static lightly crackling. Any thoughts? PS: It makes it kinda nice to have a puter online with F! whilst I am working on the other at the same time. It makes surfing for Google-answers a lot easier...but I haven't found the corect answer here...I hope PJ gets to see this...I hear that he's a whiz on these Hauppauge cards. (TV2000 type) |

And make sure line in is ticked under recording and playback Are you sure it gets sound via line in, not connect to the cd or aux connection on the mobo? Some tuners can get their sound internally as well as externally (from line in). |

Got all that, and even toggled them on and off in every possible order I could think of, APPLY-ing" between every change to make it work that way . . . but still low volume . :dogeye: :badpc: :stare: :annoyed: |

| 497814 | 2006-11-10 00:04:00 | I see you edited between posts...so, Yes...the card gets to send the sound to the aud card via a jumper externally to the line in on the C-Media card...and I have the aud card set to that default now...didn't change anything trying other configs either...still low vol..... | SurferJoe46 (51) | ||
| 497815 | 2006-11-10 00:05:00 | I would also check under sound in control panel that the default device is on the soundcard . Maybe something in the install changed it? Have u got anything else installed that uses sound/voice? ie: a voicemodem? Usually a voicemodem's drivers will change the default device to the modem, it needs to be changed to the soundcard for the sound to work . Does the sound work normally with any other program, besides trying to get the sound to work with the tuner? |

| 497816 | 2006-11-10 00:28:00 | I took the fax/voice modem outta this puter a while back...DSL didn't need it, but I put it in the other tower (Dell) just in case... Still playing here with defaults and settings...is there a compatability prob with this aud card and Hauppauge units? Gonna try a reboot and see what gives...some aud problems self-resolve that way...fingers crossed.....BRB |

| 497817 | 2006-11-10 00:32:00 | So, the sound does work with everything else then? Besides the tuner? I would still check and see if the default device has gone back to the soundcard . Even tho the voicemodem has been removed . What program r u using for the tuner? Did it come with one? |

| 497818 | 2006-11-10 00:37:00 | Dumb I know, but is the volume turned up on your TV? The way I have my system set up means that if the volume is down on the TV, I don't get any volume when I record/play my tuner card in my PC. Just a thought :) |

I forgot that part of your question . . . yes . . . the sound card runs normally in WMP, Power DVD and others . . . just the tuner is low in volume . The driver was originally Windows provided, but I updated after about 2 months from the MOBO co, SOYO . . and it ran well in every place so far . . . just this . . . I got sidetracked during the reboot---let's see what happens next . (Food happened . . . a previously living but now dead cow is on the grill BBS) |
