| 498134 | 2006-12-01 23:10:00 | as much as i dislike telecom i was considering going back to them after a year on orcon, so far ive found orcon to be **** and if anything worse than telecom, i was on telecom (and ihug for some of the year) in my flat and since coming home (back to orcons similar plan) my speeds have dropped from 200kbs+ on torrents to an average of 30kbs and orcon have messed up our billing countlessly causing us to be disconnected. /end rant. anywaz so my point is that is telecoms go large plan (the one i was planning to change to) is not all its made out to be? and you never really get your "Max up and down" speeds? |

If you have read this thread: pressf1.co.nz & others on Xtra Go large, you will find that Go large is not that great & you wont get any thing near 7.6Mb/s, I would recommend that you stay away from it & choose another plan ;) PS: Go large is only Max / 128K ;) , Go Express is MAX / MAX (I have not really heard any complains from people using Go Express) |

| 498136 | 2006-12-02 02:38:00 | You cannot connect at 7.6mbps with 128k upload. You will get burstable speed but not consistent. 4mbps is about as stable as you could get. | trinsic (6945) | ||
| 498137 | 2006-12-03 10:34:00 | Telecom is seriously shaping overseas traffic: in NZ the pages come up reasonably quick but overseas is a disaster. It is almost more quickto take a plane and pick up a disk than downloading it. I used to get over 100 for download of video files, since a few days my speed has dropped to a staggering 12kb. We are being taken for a ride by Theresa Gattung and her slaves. When will it finally change for the better? |

Well this country is too small to listen to public. |

| 498139 | 2006-12-05 08:33:00 | A couple of weeks ago I queried in a post whether Go Large was really the culprit for slow downloads.I have 3 computers which when connected individually gave 3 vastly different results for an xtra speedtest.I know there are plenty of variables that could give this result but I felt not to the extent I was getting.Today I reinstalled Windows & modem software on the slowest computer & the result has been amazing. I am now getting a great download speed for torrents(which was my main grizzle).Perhaps those out there who are getting poor speeds might consider this option. It certainly won't hurt. There is the possibility I know that some other program was responsible so I intend to do the speed test each time I reload a file/program | amyes5 (2773) | ||
| 498140 | 2006-12-05 09:07:00 | ok, on my comp, both overseas pages and local NZ pages loads quickly. however, the download speed (http) is most miserable, 5-15kbps. i find my previous plan is better than Go Large, despite its 10GB cap | Grandier (10819) | ||

And they don't have flat rate plans on other plans anymore like if you hit 15GB over $0.02/MB. | PedalSlammer (8511) | ||
