2006-11-10 01:16:00 | Hey surfer I have Spyware Doctor and a free spyware scanner I d/loaded off the net. Windows XP and 224mb RAM. Should I also be looking at unchecking startup programmes or do you think it could just be a Norton issue? I subscribed to Norton - waste of $ huh? IMO, no matter what you find as the culprit, I bet that Norton (or it's buddy McAfee) is a waste of money and resourses. But...and that's a large "but", Norton's is not the most fav anti-device on this site...er...MOST sites really. Get thee to a nunnery whilst thou also gets off the Snorton/Symeantec/McApee fix and get something really better and free.

2006-11-10 01:20:00 | Cheers surfer and Laura, did you see anything 'off' on the log? I'm doing the spybot thing now :) | chocolate2006 (11426) | |
2006-11-10 01:23:00 | You have spyware. Close browser/s first. Run HJT again, tick these entries and tick fix checked. See if mywebsearch is in add/remove programs, if it is uninstall it. | 497880 | 2006-11-10 01:55:00 | Speedy I unchecked MWSOEMON.EXE via msconfig startup and found I couldn't access a couple of sites I use, what is that application? | chocolate2006 (11426) | |
2006-11-10 02:11:00 | Its adware, did u tick the entries in my previous post and click on fix checked then do a scan with Spybot?? And if those entries came up, tick them so Spybot could remove them? Dont remove it manually from msconfig. Spybot should remove whatever entries from the system.

2006-11-10 03:37:00 | Hey speedy thanks HEAPS! I followed your instructions and she's working so much faster now!!!! Just one little question - when I update a programme can I delete prior updates or do I need them? Thanks again ;) | chocolate2006 (11426) | |
2006-11-10 03:42:00 | Good to hear its running better! Umm updates as in what program/s? I think it depends on what the program is.

2006-11-10 03:51:00 | Updates like java, I have each update version in my add/remove thingy - do I need the older versions? Prob a really stupid question I know. | chocolate2006 (11426) | |
2006-11-10 03:54:00 | Ah yup with Java, you SHOULD uninstall ALL previous versions, before u install the latest version. Because even if u install over (or if the new version gets installed in another folder), (without uninstalling the previous version), you're prone to the previous version/s of Java's vulnerabilities (if it had any).
