A friend of mine has a Compaq Presario R3000 with a DVD/CD-RW drive which all of a sudden has refused to read any Commercially produced CD's (ie Microsoft Windows CD, Drivers CD's, Games CD's etc) but it will read music CD's, DVD's and copies of Commercial CD's? I have never heard of this happening before & she has no recollection of doing anything 'out of the ordinary'. I'm about to make a 'backup' copy of the Windows install disk for her so that she can do a system file check. but could the problem be related to firmware or hardware? Any help would be appreciated, thanks. |
