| 498037 | 2006-11-10 23:27:00 | Had enough of the telecom bs, but is it worth changing ISPs, I am on the dreaded Xtra GoLarge, should be called GOSLOW, previously on Adventure & had very good speeds so it ain't the lines, etc. it is XTRA turning the tap down, my question is Will changing ISPs make any difference or will it be same old, same old no matter who you with. Thinking of going to Orcon, how does the speed look over there? |

I think you will find it may be the same, but according to www.ispmap.co.nz Orcon does not use telecom network, so it could be better or worse or the same as Xtra. Best of luck :) |

Blame Telecom. But their service is supposed to be excellent. What does service mean? The speed they answer their telephone? The only thing I didn't like was their $25 "Joining Fee" |

Users on Go Large are in different pool of IP from users on other Xtra plans like Pro, Pro Advanced, Pro Ultra and Go Express. I'd suggest you try switching to another Xtra plan first and see what sort of speeds you get. If you do get a major improvement in speed from changing, then you might want to seriously consider changing to another ISP like Orcon as they offer much better deals. | bonkiebonks (7249) | ||

Not correct, I'm on the Pro plan have been having problems for over a week with slow speeds and occasional disconnections . Most of the yesterday and all of today the network status message on the Xtra 0800 number has stated that some users will be having various problems . Have rung Xtra several times about my problems but their technical help is poor . Will have to ring them again and do another moan . . . . . . |
