497892 2006-11-10 01:46:00 having touble, cannot connect to xtra dialup (xp, kerio firewall...)

at first this morning it was working fine, shut down and restarted comp later but would not connect
looked in device manager and there was a resources conflict although couldn't figure out what that could be, fiddled around uninstalling modem and reinstalling it and the exclamation mark went away

but still cannot connect, can hear modem dialling, but after that get error message

all devices connected
errorcode 50
the request is not supported

have reinstalled the xtra connection to no avail, what next?,
as you can see other comp at same address working fine...

497895 2006-11-10 02:19:00 Even tho XP's firewall is disabled, even if you're using another firewall, if something hasnt been added to it, / or its blocking something it wont work.

If u run XP's firewall it should still let u see whats under exceptions and the advanced tab.

I found this out coz I use Mirc and its dcc ports. I had to add the ports I'm using to XP's firewall (even tho its off), for dcc receive and send to work).

497898 2006-11-10 02:22:00 oops didn't see your meantime reply there

the rarepair file worked

as for windows firewall as I said we couldn't get into it, just get message saying for unknown reason it was unaccessable but that rarepair must have fixed it cos now we can

497899 2006-11-10 02:29:00 Hmm sounds like something may have corrupted the firewall or a virus or something killed it, and that file u used fixed it. Speedy Gonzales (78)
