498663 2006-11-22 02:59:00 I have tried IE7, firefox. with and without download managers. Ive even uninstalled them all. still the same result. Every single file is corrupt. The file sizes are as expected, they just wont work. I have even disabled my firewall and nod32 virus scanner just in case that was the problem.

I have tried a different router.....

Other than this issue my PC is running perfectly.

Athlon fx-60
Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro - motherboard
western digital raptor 150 gb hardrive
2x 1024 corsair xms DDR memory
Ati radeon x800xt platnum edition 256 mb
Sound blaster audigy2

It's extremely frustrating especially with the abysmal speed Im getting at the moment. I have tried everything I can think of, with same result. This is why Im blaming the plan change. It just seems bizzare I have gone from a very good connection to an abyssmal one, and now this ....

498667 2006-11-22 20:27:00 Yeah, Im actually a I.T technician by trade, and the whole thing has me stumped. But this did happen on the exact day the Go Large plan was put into place, so I have little choice but too blame Xtra. Even though it seems unlikely.

Needless to say Im cancelling my subscription and looking elsewhere. I also wont be paying this months bill....

Can anyone recommend a good plan on an alternative isp?

498668 2006-11-22 20:36:00 Whats the noise like on your phone line, do you have a phone connected to the filter? SolMiester (139)
498669 2006-11-22 21:54:00 Have you tested your RAM? Often dodgy memory can cause problems with trying to decompress files.

498670 2006-11-22 21:58:00 Maybe remove and re-install Winzip ? R2x1 (4628)
498671 2006-11-22 23:36:00 Thanks for the replies guys .

Yep, Tried different zip utilities, same issue . Uninstalled and reininstalled
Filters are all installed, and the phone line is quite new .

Tested ram, extensively and no errors reported .

Xtra pretty much replied to me telling me that my phone line cant handle the increased speeds and that some customers would actually get worse performance . But from 2mb to 5kb? seems a little excessive . I have run some tests on my line and apparently it should handle up to 4mb at least . . . . .

I downloaded some files at work yesturday, and took them home . they installed with no problems . . . .
