498571 2006-11-12 23:52:00 i did a speed at www.speedtest.net and then i chose the auckland server and i got 2300kbps download,124kbps up. Now when i changed the server to the Los angeles servers i got 600kbps,101kbps up. so maybe the go large plan has something wrong with accessing international sites and downloads.i wonder if xtra know about this? maybe telecom don't have enough international bandwidth? orcon just bought some more bandwidth didn't they? lance4k (4644)

498573 2006-11-13 00:26:00 Go Large is having problems and are being fixed.

I get 800 down 135 up for Auckland and 300 (stayed at 100 for ages) down and 120 up for Los Angeles. Just wait for Telecom to sort themselves.

498574 2006-11-13 00:27:00 Just curious, Lance can you change your proxy in your browser to proxy.xtra.co.nz port 8080 and do a test to the site you used. KiwiTT_NZ (233)

498578 2006-11-13 02:23:00 I was all agog when I saw this posting, I thought the solution to solve the slow international download speeds, which were being reported already from 26th October, was going to be revealed in all its glory...never mind... maybe the walk to Orcon is the solution :) Terry Porritt (14)

Telecom are being investigated by the Commerce Commision about their apparent "unlimited and unleashed" deals. This may kick them into gear.

Telecom also lifted the 200mb/h on WBS Cabriolet and Go Large.

omg.............try a 'tracert' on that losangeles server and you'll find it's no where near as 'direct' a server as the auckland one.........what do you expect....that a file downloaded from a server in los angeles will have as few other servers to 'hop' thru as one in auckland. ?.....and every server on the network can be a bottleneck.......its a FACT that when doin a speed test DONT do it from some server around the other side of the world unless you WANT to get a slower reading............it's obvious really
