| 499549 | 2006-11-16 04:45:00 | I am trying to reinstall my Acer 3300U Scanner. I remember having trouble doing this once before. I have the scanner connected to power & USB on the computer. I have run the disc that came with it. The message saying that it is not connected keeps comming up. I have pulled out the USB at the scanner & reinserted it. The screen says "New hardware found" but it will not work. I went online to find a driver for the scanner. I found it & unzipped it. However I cannot open the files. The file types are not recognised. they are for BenQ/Acer S2W 3300U Scanner, 98scan.inf setup.diy usbscan.sys Can anyone help, Please. PJ |

| 499554 | 2006-11-16 09:07:00 | PJ it is not meant to "open" those files, they are not .exe files so they will not open when double clicked.... They are driver files, that you would normally "point" Windows to when it asks for files. That is does not ask suggests it already has them? If the "disk that came with it" was not for XP, that may be a cause? |

| 499556 | 2006-11-16 23:56:00 | Here is what I did... I removed Mirascan from the computer & rebooted as requested. booted up again. Unplugged scanner power & comp connection & left awhile. repluged both. No 'New Hardware' notification. Lifted scanner lid & light is on. Went into 'Control Panel', Printers & Scanners. Opened scanner & made the scanner work from there. It would seem that it is the MiraScan that is the ptoblem. Is there another programme I can use instead? PJ |

| 499557 | 2006-11-17 00:05:00 | PJ i have a BenQ scanner as well, i use scanner / camera wizard of XP as Mirascan thingy stuffs up too much............its easy to use, and im sure if i can use it so can you..:D my scanner was sitting in storage for a year, plugged it in and away it goes........ cant say the same for the printer i want to use if it goes....... good luck PJ beetle:illogical |

For instance, if you wanted to scan an image into Word, you would go Insert - Picture - From Scanner or camera -etc - From an image editor, you would use the "Aquire" or similar command to directly scan a picture in. Just where do you need MiraScan ? |
