| 499535 | 2006-11-16 02:17:00 | Hi all my Name is Robert, as I have just joined this forum I look forward to meeting all here :) Unfortunately we are not all 15 - 35, and eyesight may not be that good. Is it a policy to excluded anyone over 50 here, as it took several tries before I got the validation string correct? On the upside, I'd rather it was hard to read than too easy. Although we are still getting some human spammers I think the volume of spam posts has dropped since we put the image verification in. I wish we didn't need it, but the world is full of .......... very annoying people. |

| 499540 | 2006-11-16 21:28:00 | Just to let those of you don't realise how pervasive those spam bots are I have a phpbb (another brand of forum) that I use as a test forum there are virtually no real world links to this forum as it is on my testing site, and i had forgotten to turn on the validation text image thingie, I went to check it last week and in the month since i had last looked at It has 50 new members and over 100 posts, all dodgy pron etc posts of course and this for a site that is not linked to from anywhere, I can only imagine the sheer amount of spam bots hitting Pressf1, Having said that on one of my clients phpBB the image verification was getting beaten by some bots and we had to replace it with a rotating question, which seems to have done the trick, (apart from the odd human spammer) |

Nigel > what mod are you using to stop the spam? I am also a mod on a vBulletin forum, & I seem to be removing spam from it on a weekly / daily bases! |
