499452 2006-11-15 19:49:00 Wondering if I can use the VIVO feature of my PowerColor Radeon 9600 XT Bravo as a webcam in programs like MSN etc...

Msn doesn't detect anything, is there a program I can get that will help msn recognize it?

has anyone else done it? or is it not possible?

499453 2006-11-16 02:45:00 I doubt it, if MSN doesnt detect it, it wont work, it has to be a WIA device, for it to work.

Just buy one. It'll be cheaper than your videocard.

Sounds like my DV cam. Funny how MSN detects it no prob at all.

Yahoo OTOH, doesnt want to know about it.

499454 2006-11-16 03:18:00 I use a PS2 usb cam.

The trick is finding the drivers for it - not impossible, but alot of google time
Hint: they use a sony chipset and you may have to modify some id strings in ini files

That maybe coz its USB which is what most webcams use.

A Vivo is most probably thru a video input/output on a videocard.

So, the driver for the card would have to somehow have an ID string in it, to support a webcam.

499456 2006-11-16 10:54:00 It's odd because I used to have an Avermedia ez-capture PCI capture card - which showed up under MSN.

I figured the VIVO might do the same thing, being effectively just another capture device.

The problem is you can't really hook up an external video source to a USB webcam - unless it's a really expensive one I suppose, which is not really what I want - If i could get the VIVO to do it, that would be much more suitable

499457 2006-11-16 11:39:00 There is a seperate driver for the Video In if I remember correctly.

On the AMD/ATI website after you select your OS and Product etc click on the link under "Optional Downloads" - the driver you want is the one called "WDM Intergrated Driver".

After you install this your card should be available in capture programs as a capture device.

If you have already done this - disregard this post. :)

499458 2006-11-16 19:11:00 I downloaded the 3 in one driver which includes the basic video driver, catalyst control center and the WDM driver...

it shows up in device manager, nero, windows movie maker, virtualdub etc... I guess MSN just doesn't like it.

Is there a program that could emulate a webcam??? (from another video source)
