499395 2006-11-16 16:55:00 I don't have ZA installed!
I have disabled all firewalls, hide IP, Peer Guardian, Spybot . . . . evrything and it still won't update .
Please see the screenshot to see what I'm talking about . This is frickin ridiculous I have IE 7 installed and it tells me to install the latest version .

Hold off on what you want to do . . . I have been reading some of the posts on other sites (yes . . I read posts other than here) about this problem, now that you've got me interested .

Personally, I got IE7 just for whatever added security it has, but am a devoted Firefox user as default .

There seems to be some troubles in the AUTO INSTALL area of IE7, and I will get back to you as I find more . . . . but in a phone conversation with my son (M$ tech) he states he's seen a lot of troubles with the MANUAL INSTALL technique, but not the AUTO INSTALL types .

Hah! There's still a lot of confusion . . so let it shake out a little yet . . you might want to roll back to an earlier version of IE until it gets figured out .

I find [quote here]

"If you have 3rd party host file though . . and it is blocking atmdt . com . . downloading IE7 gives trouble . "

"V, I know this is just a tad off topic but I thought I would share since IE 7 plays a part . There is a bug in IE 7 and CCleaner Cookie Behavior . "

"I intentionally installed it after it was no longer beta and lost autofill . I did a system restore to get back IE6"

"I can tell you it's not IE's fault, it's the users more than half the time . "

"I do not like Microsoft because of its very policy: all modules are connected as within an octopus . That is bad for both liberty of users as well as competitors and above all for security: a submarine has compartments, if one is dammaged it is closed, which is not possible with MS products . This s one of the main reasons of the vulnerability of Microsoft: Vista and Vista+99 as well as IE7 and IE799 will never be secure, never . I have noticed that the best way to have a maximum of security (besides traditional firewall, antivirus, antimalware), is to have a system as much as possible compartimented: disconnected modules .

I'll switch to IE7 only with Vista, that is if I haven't opted for another OS before then . "

So, as you can see, there's a plethora of problems and even good installs are out there too . . . mine was one . . . it went smo-o-o-othly although I only use it for M$ updates and Hotfixes .

499396 2006-11-16 17:02:00 BTW: are you getting a positive result in WGA tests? This MAY be a problem too. SurferJoe46 (51)
499397 2006-11-16 18:54:00 I tried and tried to fix this problem. After downloading and installing IE 7 I couldn't update windows...I would get the following screen (see screenshot).

www.imagef1.net.nz

Anyway, after playing round in IE 7, I turned-off the Automatic Website checking in the phishing filter tab in the tools tab (top right hand corner in IE &). Ha ha, a microsoft product blocks itself, why aren't I suprised??!!

So now you know.
