500455 2006-11-19 20:28:00 I just got the free version of Mail Washer and it attaches itself to the default email. I want it to check one of the non-default ones and if it can't do this then it's not a lot of use. The default gets no spam and the second and third email accounts get it all.

Can someone advise me if this program is going to work for me, or should I be looking elsewhere ? I know the free Mail Washer only checks one email account, but does it have to be the default one ?

500457 2006-11-19 21:27:00 Mailwasher free version only supports (1) email addy. The Pro version supports more. Go to properties and you can change the settings yourself or delete the old addy and plug in a new one. A hassle but its possible to change settings few times every morning to use Mailwasher.

What you can also do is if you have mail forwarding by that webmail or ISP, enable it to all to (1) addy. Then use mailwasher to pick it (all) up. In your software like Outlook, you can assign an auto action that says from this email addy it goes to this folder and if its this email addy it goes to another folder. May not work with your ISP or webmail perhaps, but for me it worked, I forwarded 2x Clear Net addy's to say my uni when I had a mega fast LAN connection to the net at my old days.

Here's (ftp.kullen.rwth-aachen.de) one place.

[edit] I think this one (www.dslreports.com) (ver 2b28) also allows multiple accounts.

500459 2006-11-20 00:22:00 It appears to me you only want one particular account checked. If so just put that in to the account details otherwise front up and pay for the fully functional one. This is a great app and if it is any use to you it is worth paying. kjaada (253)

He appears to want to be able to deal with two accounts, but recognised the limitations of his current version.

So giving him the option of a free version that achieves what he wants makes sense. What doesn't make sense is recommending paying for software unnecessarily.

500461 2006-11-21 23:46:00 I am using Outlook and Outlook Express for my two respective mail profiles. I now have the profile I want to be Mail-Washed in Outlook Express correctly set up in Mail Washer, but the mail doesn't come in to Outlook Express. It just sits in Mail-Washer how ever many times I press all the buttons. I am going to reboot the computer to see if anything changes and if it does shall let you know. I only want one profile checked. The other one just doesn't get spam although it is the main account.

For the record - I am a she

500462 2006-11-21 23:58:00 Yes, rebooting changed everything. I previously had gone into Control Panel/Internet Options/Programs and changed Email from Outlook to Outlook Express, but evidently to make things work I had to reboot.

Thanks to all of you who sent answers for helping me to think !

500463 2006-11-22 00:13:00 Greg thanks for the link, Mailwasher really works well, now for both my accounts. Nomad (952)
500464 2006-11-22 00:18:00 Not sure about Outlook Express but there may be a function, in Outlook if you to go "Organise" you can do things like when you check for mail, if it is from this email addy it will go to this inbox and if its this one it will go to the other folder. I use this function, its just so much easier to organise your mails. Such as a personal account and a internet email account. Nomad (952)
