500264 2006-11-18 08:12:00 Hello everybodee!
Wondering if anyone could tell me whether it is possible to allocate bandwidth, evenly or otherwise, to the 2 computers on our network. Basically when we are downloading through utorrent and azureus surfing of the net is extremely slow, even when scale back the speeds on the bit torrent clients. We are run our network through a linksys WAG54GP2.
Any comments appreciated.
cheers

500265 2006-11-18 08:53:00 a bandwidth shaper like netlimiter would work... it lets you define bandwidth per program both ul/dl panther2 (11440)

500267 2006-11-19 19:34:00 Thanks for that guys. I probably should of been a bit clearer...What I'm hoping to do is be able to limit my flatmates computer to half of our available bandwidth. The issue is when he d/l on say bit torrent, even if its only going at say, 5kb, playing online SOF2 is near on impossible.
I've d/l netlimiter, which seems to bew quite a good program, but am I able to allocate each device on our network with it. I will also look into QOS on my router.

500268 2006-11-19 20:35:00 Bandwidth Controller is another program you could look at. You'd have to install it on his computer though unless you set up a gateway PC.

500269 2006-11-20 04:12:00 Most Linksys gear supports QOS, it would be a far better option than having to run software on all the clients. Pete O'Neil (6584)
