500080 2006-11-17 20:59:00 got sick and suspicious of this DAMN slow speed I'm getting system woulnd't even bring up the jetstreamgames speed test correctly it'd go to the page but not run the test so I tried a different one....it showed an amazing 61kb.....this is on the 'full speed' deal.....YEH RIGHT ! anyway rang them up and it seems that supposedly on the 10-11-06 I downloaded 3gb.....NOT...after some discussion the helpdesk jockey tried to look further into it and found that their machine would tell them the day it happened but NOT the hour, (and it SHOULD) anyway theres NO WAY i downloaded any thing like that on that day......GGGrrrr they basically admitted there may be some issue with their usage meter cause he said this had happened to others...so ....i'm stuck on slowas for the next couple of days till they fix it.......GRRRRRRR.......

anyone else with a weird jump in their usage
i'd appreciate it if you'll mention it here.........I reckon it's their stuff up and I dont see why I should be suffering because of it......grrrr........ I see a request for a refund coming up ... !!!!

500081 2006-11-17 21:03:00 Did you not activate their 80% notification? Greg (193)
500082 2006-11-17 21:13:00 if you mean they're automatically supposed to notify me when I hit 80% no they didnt' .........is this a feature of one of the 'new' plans ?.....cause if so they at this point havn't 'switched' me onto one of those otherwise I wouldn't have been cut back anyway...... drcspy (146)
500083 2006-11-17 23:09:00 I seem to recall you have to physically activate it.

Go to your Broadband Usage Meter (www.telecom.co.nz) and click on Broadband Usage Alerts.

500084 2006-11-18 00:32:00 Had same thing happen on the 10th, 11th November . Used 30GB (10GB cap) in two days, already had used 20GB when the 80% email alert received, ie same day . :horrified

First xtra 'desk" guy not a lot of help, next guy on the 12th could pull up hourly activity figures but no help with cause .

Changed xtra password (dont belive this was compromised), checked WiFi access point (made no changes), new billing period started on the 12th (lucky for me) and and usage back to normal levels . :2cents:

Did note however that speed was not adversly impacted for those couple of days .

500086 2006-11-18 00:55:00 i find on ihug, after being knocked back down to 64Kb for exceeding data usage, it will shoot back up to my normal 'fast' speed for a few hours at random - i drop everything and get dloading! free data! :nerd: motorbyclist (188)
500087 2006-11-18 02:13:00 Why do you stick with Xtra?

Xnet did that to me once, someone had mistakenly limited me to 100mb. (yes MB)
As soon as I phoned they fixed it straight away while I was still talking to them....

I sometimes dont get a slow-down at all.

Ihug's usage meter was down for about two weeks (for me anyway). I used an extra 5gig or so im sure.

Maybe he sticks with Xtra because there are so many complaints about so many other ISPs recently that there seems little point in changing - at least until things settle down..

Once everyone had a go at Telecom/Xtra. Now it's open slather on Ihug, Orcon. Uncle Tom Cobbley & All - according to this forum, anyway.

So who do you recommend instead?
