2006-11-21 08:20:00 | I've did a search and read some old threads. AVG, NOD32 and avast sounds good... But those are old threads. Has anything changed? Whats the current free best? | Timbo (11006) | |
2006-11-21 09:04:00 | Among the ones I have used, I like Kaspersky the most. However, it is not free after the trial period (one month). | developer (4447) | |
2006-11-21 09:11:00 | latest version of AVG free working ok for me nothing slipped through yet | beama (111) | |
2006-11-21 09:33:00 | AVG is good for home use and there is a free version. For a business (or those home users who want extra piece-of-mind) NOD32 is the one to go for. And at only about $70 for 12 months is a good price too. You can buy 24 or 36 months as well and it gets cheaper, per year, the more you buy.

2006-11-21 18:10:00 | If you have the $$, get NOD32. The best of the best. Best freebie: Avast. User friendly. AVG is still a good freebie. Nortons - NOOOOO !!!!!!

2006-11-22 13:10:00 | I suppose the best non-recommendation (is that a proper word/phrase?) is for people to report if/when they've been infected and what anti-virus app they were using at the time. It's kinda difficult to know how good your anti-virus is if you never get infected. For me AVG free version has nabbed a couple of nasties in several years of use. So I suppose that could be called a recommendation.

2006-11-22 18:44:00 | I use NOD32, I have never been infected - but it has warned me about various email attachments and files on websites. AVG seems to do the jobe well, most of my customers end up using it. I do test them and NOD32 wins by a mile.

2006-11-23 04:42:00 | BitDefender is a lot cheaper and still the best currently.;) Don't get it? Hmm, why BitDefender is not cool? I usually go to rubbish to search for some free medias, and you know what? lol, I set it to aggressive mod. And not even a single spyware or virus entered my computer except for McAfee and Norton.:groan: | PedalSlammer (8511) | |
