500685 2006-11-20 09:38:00 Looks alright to me.

Wait for a second opinion to confirm just in case I missed something.

500686 2006-11-20 10:02:00 Thanks but I think I might have jumped to the wrong conclusion.

The reason for my concern is I found a text file which was really weird. Googling has uncovered that this file msxml4-kb927978-en appears to be something to do with MS update.

The strange thing about this is that the file appears on my 2nd HDD used only for storage - no OS - so I got a little concerned, especially as it was created at a time I was no where near my computer.

I think it must have occurred due to me having MS Auto updates on.

Still, if nothing comes from it at least it has got me to run spybot and adaware again for the first time in a few months.

Cheers

Uninstall Sun Java, and update it from here (java.sun.com)

Thanks - have removed entries you listed above but Unistalling Sun Java is not clear to me.

In add/remove programs I take it you are referring to the JSE Runtime Environment - I have 3 entries in add/remove. Do I have to uninsall all of them and then go to the site you linked but go to this page (sdlc3e.sun.com 11A3F6B9258) and download jdk-1_5_0_09-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe?

The 3 x JSE programs now are quite large, 119MB this one is a lot smaller at 33MB - is this correct?
sam m (517)
500691 2006-11-20 19:53:00 Yup uninstall all 3 entries in add/remove programs.

Thats it, the JSE Runtime Environment entries.

You should UNINSTALL previous entries before u install the latest version of Java.

Since if u dont uninstall previous versions (even tho you've installed the latest versions), any vulnerabilities the previous version/s may have you'll get.

Its here (sdlc1d.sun.com:443 0824D497ED5)

The first download. 15.74 mb.

500692 2006-11-20 19:58:00 Thanks Speedy, will get it done when I get back from work.

It is actually a valid program... player.virtools.com
