500587 2006-11-20 02:10:00 i was reading an article and it said there are some paid software called a virtual tunnel and it will make your downloads faster by bypassing the isp or sumthing. is this true? lance4k (4644)
500588 2006-11-20 03:52:00 basicly web accelerator software. often used with an ISP. however others can be used with another host site eg all your traffic gets directed to them and they send it to you compressed with the accelerator software. tweak'e (69)

500590 2006-11-20 05:11:00 A tunnel works like a proxy and its pretty much the same as a VPN, basically all the traffic would look like standard traffic to Xtra's QoS servers and not like p2p traffic or whatever.

Depending on where the tunnel server is and the bandwidth of that server it could potentially slow your connection if the server is slow.
