500804 2006-11-22 21:23:00 That must be it........thanks......so it is the OS then :( zahmad (8963)
500805 2006-11-23 07:20:00 Used to have the same experience when I had ME, it appears to be an internal PCI modem trait. The OS seemed to periodically ignore it, but an internal modem needs 100% co-operation from the CPU to actually work.

Changing to an RS232 serial hardware modem fixed it though.

500807 2006-11-24 11:23:00 is it possible that the other half of your traffic is infact being eaten by spyware?

i'd dload netmeter or something similar to see exactly what is happening...

but using winME and dialup never helps either...

If it is as I expect, there just is no "traffic" at all. The modem just gets ignored.

So it is unlikely to be spyware et al, as that would imply some traffic.

500809 2006-11-25 01:32:00 it was just a possibility.... somewhat easier to fix than if it's the OS motorbyclist (188)
