The question is - do I: (1) Dismount (by clicking on the icon etc) and pull out the USB cable first then stop the hard disk in the external drive ? or (2) Stop the hard disk in the external drive and then dismount and pull out the USB cable ? or (3) Is the sequence unimportant ? (my quess is that it does not matter !) Misty :confused: |

| 501627 | 2006-11-23 21:26:00 | Well you have to dismount really only if the device in not setup for quick removal, but if it is, there is no need to dismount, just make sure the disk is not in use when you pull out USB or turn off. But there is no important way with turning it off / taking USB plug out, I do both here... |
