501516 2006-11-23 08:09:00 I'm fixing a mate's PC, it's the first time I have worked on one with multiple user accounts . I want the change's I make in one account to apply for the other two but that's not happening because I installed Opera in one account and it wont show up in the other's, also I installed powerdvd in one account yet in another one I had to re-enter the serial number .

Most importantly when I go to remove viruses in one account I want it to apply to all account's, and I dunno if this is happening or not .

Under all 3 accounts it says "computer administrator" if that helps .

Thanks for any help in advance . :)

501517 2006-11-23 09:07:00 The virus checkers Ive used / installed, scan all files in all accounts, the only place they sometimes have trouble with is system restore (protected system area). They can scan that area but cant clean out virus's, the only way to get them out there is to turn off system restore (effectivly deleting restore points) reboot and re-enable.

As for the other problem of global program settings across all users, well I'll leave that for a braver person than me. It is possible, but, I'm not trying to be rude or insulting, I dont think you are ready to visit the registry, do the wrong thing and the only fix is a reinstall of the OS.

sorry welcome to pressf1

Put the desktop icon into the All Users account .
Some programs ask you if you want it for all or just the one account .
You could also do all this as actual administrator rather than logged in under one of the user accounts .

+1

There will be the 3 user accounts, plus an administrator account. If you get the startup screen with the pictures etc, hit ctrl-alt-del twice and it should bring up a logon box, type administrator in there as the user name.
