Sorry, PJ. Can't help with the scanner.

Just wanted to admire your choice of language.
Cough would make so much more sense to new members who don't understand Bump.
I like it.
I think I'll borrow it..

Yes. Indeed.

502017 2006-11-26 04:20:00 PJ, it almost sounds as though you may be scanning as a .jpg or .tif, or .pdf etc then opening it in Word, which is not the way to go?

Or, your childrens books cannot even be understood by the scanner? (perhaps the scanner is to young to read yet?)

Sorry but I have no experience with the scanning package, but OCR'ing into Word should elicit something basically readable, assuming the originals are a print out.

But really - no backup? You do surprise me....

Para 1. Don't know about this but will look into it.

Para 2 Drongo !!!

Para 3...What appears is some sort of computer code in alphabet & symbols.
Yes it is a printed copy of what was in a Word format.
Para 4 Don't you start, I am embarrassed enough already.

The whole scanning bit is very slow. I might be quicker rt-typing insread.

502019 2006-11-26 07:32:00 I'm not too sure about Mirascan, but with my Canoscan I find 120dpi is optimal for OCR, unless it's trying to read graphics as well, then 200dpi is ok. At 1200dpi the file is going to be huge from an A4 page. I once had an A3 at 2400dpi for foolish reasons (not OCR) and it needed a 15GB swap file and a few meal breaks to deal with it. R2x1 (4628)
502020 2006-11-26 08:31:00 OK ....Success to a point. I do not know ,exactly, what I have done.

I raised the scanner to 2400dpi & High Quality scan, then scanned into Word. Not a bad picture on screen. Ok, but a bit grainy.
Raised dpi to 4800 & better Picture.
Raised to 9600dpi & Very acceptible.
Scanned 19 pages into Word & saved as Page 1, Page 2, etc. So in my Folder I now have 19 seperate Word pages.

To bring them together in one long continuous string under one heading, what do I do? I assume that on the page that has all 19 scanned pages, I drag & drop each page . Dragging Page 2 onto Page 1 & dropping it?

I dont want to experiment with this as it has taken some time to scan all these pages. Any advice. Please. PJ (anxiously waiting)
