While using my computer (Windows XP Pro ) I sometimes find it appears to freeze up and on pressing Control Alt delete and then checking processes I find System Idle Process CPU 99 Memory 20K. Can anyone explain what this means and is this cpu 99 the cause of the go slow. Thanks |

The CPU is idle 99% of the time at that moment, so no application or process is hogging your CPU, the reason for the freeze is elsewhere. (It's just sitting waiting for something.) |

Hi, because the cpu must always be doing something with its cycles, if not processing your programme instructions, it just go to the idle process....it is saying I am doing nothing! |
