2006-11-28 19:51:00 | I have used Skype for a long time on dialup and BB and have found it excellent.Call in NZ are not 100% but bearable at about 3c per min.A must tho is headset and turn speakers off,you generally will not notice much on yr end with the speakers on but the other end is awfull. | kjaada (253) | |
2006-11-28 20:48:00 | Yes, I use a headset and mic - that makes a big difference, I also tried one of those Dick Smith usb phones but that was much the same except not hands free - so in many ways less useful and significantly less convenient, which was unexpected. | fred1 (3982) | |

2006-11-28 23:57:00 | Maybe it is a sound card problem, or mic, or other hardware...??? I believe you need a full duplex sound card for this to work, what is yours?

2006-11-29 00:39:00 | I use Skype every day and broadband to dialup is sometimes a problem. One thing I have learned is, that by turning off the video link (bottom left of page) the local signal improves dramatically. Ron..Good luck.. | Ron24 (337) | |
2006-11-29 04:00:00 | Just found this which you could try: labrats.tv I turned off speakers (as one or two others do) and I had to contact my son in UK; both him & his wife said speech quality had improved dramatically their end. Also got onto link above and went through port forwarding for Skype, so, next time I call them over there, it'll be interesting to see how much better it is again.
