| 502215 | 2006-11-26 20:09:00 | That cable delivers a steady +12.15V and +5.14V respectively, including on startup. If I plug the H: drive in the 12V goes down to 12.12V whcih doesn't seem like a huge jump. So I'm really bamboozled now. Where else to look for a cause? | digikiwi (10681) | ||
| 502216 | 2006-11-26 20:27:00 | It is unlikely that it is the PSU, HDD don't take THAT much power... what GFX card do you have? Cause I know that PSU will be pleanty for the PC depending on GFX card. Also as pctek said... Hitachi :groan: :badpc: :yuck: I have had 2 Hitachi drives die on me... I never go from Seagate, don't look at anything else. Well if X does not work on its own (no H) then it is most likely the drive... have you tested them in another PC? Not sure if this is relevant to your situation on not... but I have a 320GB external drive which I use via eSATA and for some reason (havn't found out why and don't have the time to find out...) it wouldn't work on one of the SATA headers... but the SATA header works normally with an internal drive... Oh well... |

| 502217 | 2006-11-26 23:46:00 | Managed to get it working finally. I upgraded BIOS while holding onto large wooden object - successful. I then found that the HD Boot priorities seemed to reset themselves every time I dis/reconnected drive h: so I had to set the RAID device to top of the list. Now it works again, although the first time I rebooted I had an inexplicable BSOD error and instant reboot. Ok after rebbot though. But for now everything is working. Signing off Thanks for all attempts to help and impart knowledge :) |
