503427 2006-12-01 02:14:00 I was asked to fix a widescreen laptop, and the first thing I noticed was it was set to 1024x768, but when I went to change it, there was no option for 1280X768. There was quite a range of 4:3 resolutions, but no 16:9 resolutions. hcl (10925)
503428 2006-12-01 02:21:00 Wouldnt it be widescreen by default?

Are the videocard drivers installed, if there's meant to be a higher resolution than 1024x768?

And are u playing a widescreen dvd to see if its playing in widescreen?

503429 2006-12-01 02:45:00 if its got a nvidia chip with nvidia drivers, go to the icon in your tray, rught click it and go ''nvidia control panel'' if its the new one and go ''view'' and change it to ''classic control panel''

once youve done this or if its already classic control panel, right click somewhere on desktop, and youll get ''nvidia display; screen name/brand''

once in this you go to ''screen resolutions & refresh rates''

there will be a little check box in this, called ''hide modes that this monitor cannot support''

uncheck it, then you can change the resolution to a 9:16 res.

if it isnt nvidia, then sorry, cant help.
