503407 2006-12-01 01:43:00 Hello!

Ok well im changing from orcon, despite them having the great no interleaving option, and good speeds(up and down) for good prices, there bandwidth prices are too expensive, and also the fact they are conning me for something else but ya anyway, heres what i need:

1: unlimited or quite high bandwidth limit
2: a ''no interleaving option''
3: max speed down, up is not important (but is a big plus if its max up)
4: must be $70 or less, preferably 50-60, 70 at very max

i may take more expensive plans into consideration if there good enough but ya anyway...

503408 2006-12-01 01:46:00 Go to other ISP's websites, and see what their plans/prices are. Speedy Gonzales (78)
503409 2006-12-01 01:47:00 i have but no websites say whether or not they have interleaving as an option and i wanna hear from what PEOPLE say, as in peoples experiences with the providers etc. jesse_jax (9283)
503410 2006-12-01 01:51:00 And interleaving means what? Speedy Gonzales (78)
503411 2006-12-01 01:55:00 I thought interleaving was controlled by Telecom, is on by default and cannot be changed.
Anyway, avoid Ihug like the plague.

503413 2006-12-01 02:15:00 And interleaving means what?

i need it off to play games properly, as in no bs ass lag that gets me killed.

interleaving adds like 50-100 ms' on my pings in css, bf2142, and cod2.

and interleaving just like ALL internet acess and options is controlled by telecom, BUT some providers can now turn it off for you since the unbundling, i.e: orcon.

503414 2006-12-01 03:25:00 Best thing to do is go to a website like: www.internetchoice.co.nz/ or http: or www.netguide.co.nz etc... & find an ISP that has what your after like: unlimited or quite high bandwidth limit, max speed down & up & a price ring that you’re happy with, then e-mail/phone each of them & ask them if they can turn off interleaving for your connection….

As Antmannz said I don’t think you will find many ISP’s that can turn off interleaving & if you can then it may have been an ISP that you may have already been with like Orcon or ISP’s that are having a bad run of bad luck at the moment e.g.: ihug etc…

An ISP quite a number of PressF1 members seem to be using at the moment is Xnet - http://www.xnet.co.nz/

I Hope this helps :), best of luck.

Xnet's new plans are nowhere near as good as their old plans. A lot of pressf1 members have stated that they will stick with their old Xnet plans for as long as possible.

503416 2006-12-01 04:20:00 If you like unlimited usage plans, and you require Interleaving to be turned off, Woosh Orbit Flat Rate would be your best bet. As far as I can see, it isn't resold Go Large (Cabriolet) whereas Maxnet, and Actrix all re-sell the Go Large, hence you can't turn off interleaving.

I just switched to Go Large from Xnet Flood three days ago, and I'm actually quite pleased with it - I managed to download over 7GB during this short period. But then again, if you need Interleaving to be turned off, go for Woosh. I can't speak for their speeds, but have heard some good things about them. My own experience with Quicksilver (now Woosh) in the past wasn't spectacular - especially their international bandwidth which was non-existent.
