503193 2006-11-30 10:21:00 It's one of the IBM notebooks (R52) in the office. I called our IT maintenance contractor. He was surprised too. Anyway, the notebook reverts to normal a few hours later. Will do a virus scan and see how things go. BTW, this is not a joke. My colleague was so frustrated as she was not able to get certain work done. People has come to be so reliant on computers that when it is down, they were just hopeless.:angry

I'm suspicious about viruses, of course, but can't help feeling Terry's link to Google mirror may fit in somewhere.
Although the reality wasn't funny, it's the kind of thing someone might do as a prank - especially if it lasts only for a certain time.
I'd look sideways at fellow workers if it was my comp. Any jokers in the room?

Please excuse a temporary hijack of your thread here, Taurus.

Welcome back after your exams, James.

Your lengthy self-imposed banishment for study was impressive.
I hope it paid off?
Hey Laura. Impressive? What do you mean? That I am the first to ask for a ban, :D ?

I think I did pretty well in my sciences and maths, but as always, think I am going to flunk at least one paper in English... sigh

Cheers :)

503195 2006-12-01 09:38:00 Check the language settings in your browser. Look especially at whether the normal English left-to-right reading convention has been changed to a right-to-left mode. TGoddard (7263)
503196 2006-12-01 09:55:00 I wouldn't ordinarily offer unsolicited advice of this sort, but I'll take James's text in red to be a solicitation:

I don't think Malware ought to take a plural 's'. It could be argued that, being a newish word in the English language it doesn't have to conform to the patterns of long-established words of the same type, but I would disagree. It's clearly part of the sequence: hardware, software, etc., and you wouldn't say, "I bought some softwares today", or, "Our computer room has heaps of cool hardwares.

Just my opinion.
