502961 2006-11-30 09:50:00 yeah i know it runs sweet as on my 6600gt, amd 2600, and 1gb of ram, it was made so much better than bf2, i dont have graphics pumped right up but its higher than what i had bf2 on and i get MUCH better fps and hit reg. jesse_jax (9283)
502962 2006-11-30 11:12:00 "Another thing that bugged me was that widows would start using swapfile space when the ram was only half used up, so I turned on conservative swapfile usage. That way it won't use it unless it really needs to. Been setting my system up this way for many many years."

Start/Run type msconfig: in System.ini edit the [386Enh] section of the file, on a new line type: ConservativeSwapFileUsage=1 (leave a single blank line between the last line in [386Enh] and the next section)

This is what I do in XP, you do this at your own risk jesse_jax.

502964 2006-11-30 11:29:00 and what exactly will this do, as im not so keen on editing system files, but if it fixes it i will. jesse_jax (9283)
502965 2006-11-30 11:42:00 Instead of using swapfile your computer will use ram. zqwerty (97)
502966 2006-11-30 11:59:00 possible side effects? jesse_jax (9283)
502967 2006-11-30 12:06:00 None, that I know of, it works just fine on my XPpro instal.

"Instead of using swapfile your computer will use ram." after/and if all the ram is used up then the swapfile will be used as usual.

If you don't like the result you should just untick the entry in Msconfig and then delete it if you decide there is no benefit.
