| 503966 | 2006-12-03 08:58:00 | Hi all OK I am utterly stumped here, I have win 2000 installed and I wish to dual boot it with Vista, but everytime I try I get an error along the lines of \windows\system32\winload.exe - is missing or corrupt Which i know is incorrect I have previously tried to dual boot with 2000 and XP but i got an error message about hal.dll - is missing or corrupt as well as trying windows 2000 and windows 2003 server and got an error about ntkernel (I think) - is missing or corrupt Now i don't believe that all my install disks are poked, i reckon it has something to do with the bootloaders, but i have triple checked the boot.ini files and they are always exactly what they should be Is there a step I am missing before i try installing the second OS I am installing the second OS to the first partition of the second harddrive Do I have to do something to the harddrive to make it work And i know this is different but I have often had my system dualbooting with linux Where does vista store it's boot file and paths Any help would be appreciated |
