1409712 2015-10-14 20:31:00 that quote from MS techs goes back to June, prelease .

Perhaps its just a standardized reply the use for all Win10 bugs ? Yep, although it was re-posted today, and it is true, W10 is still full of bugs, items not working, many options have been removed and slowlyyyyyyy being put back, so by 29th July 2016 they will more than likely be back to where W7 & w8 are now, with maybe a few extra bits and bobs included.
The microsoft Engineers are VERY good and copy/paste generic answers on lots of threads, often with nothing to do with the problem someone is asking about. More often than not its other insiders that supply a fix for a problem. Trying to get straight answers from anyone in Microsoft forums is close to impossible.

1409713 2015-10-14 22:15:00 I hate that start menu. I thought it would look like Windows 7 from all of the hype about windows 10 being the best out there. (2), Stupid icons, I have no idea what they are and I have no idea half the time what they represent (3) Toolbars for dialog windows are terrible; with only two colours available, WHITE being the most stupidest one for design!!!! (3) Login icon screen looks so retarded, with some crapy icon and grey background. (4) MSStore (I think) - feature used to open .jpg, files, jpeg and so forth, I keep getting errors, so I used MS paint to open this. (4) The arrangement of applications in Alphabetic order is retarded. (5) Not a huge fan of those stupid tile features, very much the reason I did not upgrade to Windows 8 (6) If I need to access the CONTROL PANEL, I have type it in the search function - I keep going to that "settings" link on the start menu, but that is just as confusing. (7)As for that stupid logon background, it is the dumbest thing since sliced bread. undiejuice (16495)
1409714 2015-10-14 23:12:00 Sounds as though you're not having a happy day. I love W10 (so far). Richard (739)

I have to say that the evidence so far suggests that you are right. I'm generally happy with Win 10, having installed it on 2 desktops and 2 laptops. The installations were (mostly) trouble-free, and the transistions from Win 7 & Win 8.1 were much smoother than I feared they would be. I was uneasy about the necessity to do a registry patch to make Windows Money work, but that is no longer necessary. The new start menu is a complete flop in my opinioon, but installing Stardock's Start 10 cured that issue.

Nevertheless, the overall impression is that Win 10 is still a work in progress. My main grouch is the ridiculous situation with Control Panel and Settings. Finding & changing particular settings is likely to result in running around in circles going from window to window and as likely as not to end up where you started from. Some settings no longer exist, others have been shifted somewhere else. And the 'Modern' interface is simply plug-ugly. Aesthetic considerations can be dismissed as simply cosmetic, but Microsoft used to take some pride in the visual presentation of Windows. The new Settings screen is a disgrace and almost offensive.

1409716 2015-10-17 03:20:00 As someone who had to use Win8.1 at work I refused to upgrade my own computers from Win7 simply because Win1 was such a backwards step. But I actually use and find Win10 to be fine I even like the Win10 start menu as it is now that is customised to only show what I use. gary67 (56)
1409717 2015-10-18 05:56:00 Just upgraded my laptop to Windows 10.
All went smoothly.

The sooner everyone upgrades to Windows 10 the better.
It will be so much better for support and we will all know where various are and what they are called, rather than having to remember XP, 7 or 8 etc.

I can't think of any valid reason to stay on an old version, considering that 10 has been out for a few months now.
