Why bankrupt (yes bankrupt) a city for the sake of adding more rail ?? Why should the av ratepayer have to pay for 75% of the actual cost in rail fares , used by comparatively so few?? No one pays a subsidy for my more travel costs to & from work, why not!!!! |

What's wrong with rail. Way better than buses. Just need to look at Goldcoast's new light rail system. Replaced about 50 different bus routes. When it was being built there were people like you nay-saying all over the place but 6 months after it opened it's now the best thing since sliced bread.. Why do we still use an old technology like diesel buses?? |

| 1400196 | 2015-05-14 04:13:00 | What's wrong with rail. Nothing. Some time ago, there was some other groups shown on the news with their plan for public transport round Akld. This was heaps cheaper (to implement), involved transport from the suburbs out to the suburbs and other useful places like the airport. My issue is the idiots that decide the CBD is all, airports and suburb to suburbs isn't important. For instance with all this terrific stuff from the council I get pamphlets telling me the buses aren't going to stop at places now - there will be these "central areas" and "central" bus catching points. Meaning less of them, requiring more walking (or something) to get to them and each end. And whats with no buses after certain times? Like after 11pm from town? Or after 7pm from Albany? Everyone just does 9 to 5 of course. And weekends? Even better.......and for the privilege of not being able to catch trains and buses at these weird times, you pay a small fortune anyway. Proper trains would be great. |

While people from Warkworth to Bombay pay for it. I never go into the city its been taken away from us New Zealanders who were born here. I used to go there mainly drunk as, after happy hours at work to the strip clubs and massage parlours in Fort Street and K road in a group when drink driving was a sport not a crime. It all got too hard so we used to get the strippers and dirty girls to come out to us at Hobby. | prefect (6291) | ||
