Though there are ballot and quota schemes, I think we have enough immigrants, and as Winston Peters says, many need to "get with it" here in NZ. Need to define perhaps, between a NZ Citizen (about any race, culture, etc today), and a New Zealander (i.e. based on inter-generational inherent ties to NZ). Job applications seems to want to distinguish between NZ citizens, residents, etc, but not generational NZ's. Those whose parents/grand parents whom probably contributed vastly to our country. I spotted a middle aged white working kiwi man remeniscent of the mid 70's (you know, - the ute, a trade with a spade, a dog, boots and shorts) at our local busy petrol station. This guy stood out (perhaps with me) amongst the other 10 or so people whom all were common foreigners/immigrants. It used to be the other way around when I was at that garage in the 70's. |

Perhaps because the average 'white working kiwi man' simply doesnt want that job any more, so they have to fill vacancies with 'immigrants'. We have this ridiculous idea that Humans are the superior species on Earth. We express grief when a "disaster" occurs and people are killed. If there is an epidemic we immediately try to stop it. If we give birth to defective children we do everything we can to keep them alive. Of course wars are necessary to help keep the population down. If other species run short of food or space they stop breeding. Not so the idiotic Human where the poorer the population the faster they breed. We are doomed to extinction and no one will mourn us.
