1400362 2015-05-09 23:58:00 Can anyone recommend a Memo app for my Galaxy S4 Mini? The one built into mine (android 4.4.2) is really pathetic - my ooold Galaxy Gio running Android 2.x used to be perfect, with an icon I could place on the home screen which would open the memo and their options.

I use Fast notepad on both my Nexus tablet and Huawei Y320 phone. It suits my needs.

Look at the permissions the apps want, then decide if you really want that app & its OK for that app to access all your contacts, access your files, access your camera/mic(why?), have the ability to txt & make calls(why?) , send info back to 'home base' etc etc .

1400365 2015-05-11 05:19:00 I don't put much stock in those battery saver/ memory cleaner utilities. If you are having battery issues reduce the screen brightness and check in the settings what is using the battery. As for memory, better to let android do it's thing unassisted.

Indeed, and more often than not those "cleaner" apps just cause more problems than they solve, actually decreasing battery life when they kill off programs coz you've then got to do a *full* load of the apps again, and the cache has been cleared too so that has to be rebuilt...

1400366 2015-05-24 06:17:00 Thanks everyone. That is quite a list but I will check those apps out. I have since removed the battery apps because as others have said, I reckon the phone runs better without them.

Cheers
Andrew

1400367 2015-05-24 22:12:00 I removed the anti-virus off my phone for the same reason, works better without it :)
And it's not like a PC, no big deal if I have to factory reset it.

This is a tweak guide for a 2012 nexus 7 running lollipop www.googlenexusforum.com Makes quite a difference to speed and battery life and many of the tips will apply to other devices but you may have to hunt for them in the settings if it's a different version of android. I didn't apply all of them as some of the things he disables I actually use a bit but my nexus was quite sluggish after installing lollipop and this helped quite a bit.
