Researching car engines, I came acorss this CNN video (edition.cnn.com) (with news text) of first women to fly the new F35. Seems small jet, but their are variants for US Navy, Marine Corps, and other US services, including their Allies. Also the new jets (www.youtube.com) (Youtube direct) arriving with some fanfare in Florida Eglin Air Force Base. Plus changes to the common vector thrust system by ading a driveshaft create a lift fan system. Apparently had to be modified to prevent the concrete from blowing apart during takeoff. So 12 years later....... hmmn, ongoing issues making a silk purse from sows ear ? Most expensive fighter jet ever ? Aus is buying 72 of them, at a cool $90mil per plane. Missiles they need cost extra I thought Aus was broke ? |

| 1400988 | 2015-05-20 01:20:00 | AU seems to have a massive GDP relative to ours. Maybe their mineral exports, and large diverse economy. Maybe NZ should decorate our skies with 1 or 2 jets. Rather than low flying thumping police helicopters. Then again we may moan, like last time for the 750 million cost of the last batch of fighter jets from Italy (I think). Best suggested for education at the time, which has spiralled into massive student debt. |
