| 1400690 | 2015-05-14 03:38:00 | I've never considered sky good value, it seems to me like their sports coverage is most of the reason they have survived this long and I'm not a sports fan myself. You'd have to dig them up to put another nail in the coffin if it wasn't for all the sports fans I'd think. They tried to convince me to sign up for 6 months at half price recently - which is still more than netflix and lightbox combined. Not only is there no dish on my house, there never has been (built in 97, bought by me in 99). |

| 1400693 | 2015-05-14 04:02:00 | In defence of Sky I have to say: It's just there, I don't need any devices connected to TV (Or to own a TV with the correct ports), I don't need to download anything first, or stream it or whatever. I don't have to scroll through lists of stuff to find the few things I want to see. I don't care about sports or fiction. So it works for me. $1.15 extra a month? Who cares? Petrol just went up again, now that bothers me more. |

I've also got 2 multi-rooms which keeps the whole family happy. I use the computer for most of TV shows though but enjoy catching a game or two on Sky over the weekend while having a beer or some decent stand-up on Comedy Central (Live at the Apolo is fantastic). |

| 1400695 | 2015-05-14 04:44:00 | I don't find it much of a defence myself. In defence of Sky I have to say: It's just there, I don't need any devices connected to TV (Or to own a TV with the correct ports) Yes actually you do, a decoder and a TV with the correct ports to connect it to. , I don't need to download anything first, or stream it or whatever. Sky digital is streaming... you just have no control over it. Ok you may have to spend a few minutes setting up the app for netflix or lightbox 1 time. I don't have to scroll through lists of stuff to find the few things I want to see. It's called a TV guide and also the list of recorded shows on your sky device, not really that different. I don't care about sports or fiction. So it works for me. $1.15 extra a month? Who cares? Petrol just went up again, now that bothers me more. Fair enough, it's good to have choice. Can't argue with that one. I will point out you could buy a new Blu-ray player (samsung models with smart hub or a sony PS3 work well)with support for netflix and lightbox and subscribe to both services and still spend less in a 6 month period than a full price sky subscription. Driving either via remote is no harder than using mysky and setting them up initially is no great hardship. Then you get a device that can play Blu-rays as well and maybe even games and is yours to keep. |

| 1400696 | 2015-05-14 05:07:00 | We have Sky for sports coverage. There used to be more reasons, but they have been rendered unnecessary by other options now. So until an equally user-friendly way to watch live rugby/cricket/etc is available legally, I'll stay with Sky. | inphinity (7274) | ||
| 1400697 | 2015-05-14 06:59:00 | I have never has sky, but I am sure must be at top of their list for the door knocking clowns who try to get me to subscribe. I say to them dont ever ******* ever come and hassle me again but they still do. | prefect (6291) | ||
| 1400698 | 2015-05-14 07:21:00 | There is nothing offered on Pay TV that would convince me to spend a cent on any of them . Fortunately there is more than enough entertainment on the 8 free to air channels . and with Plus 1 and TV On Demand there is any amount of entertainment that you can program to suit . Sky is an outright rip-off, as are any other 'Pay to View' services, once the moguls moved in, financial reality was tossed out the window and the hell with anybody who couldn't afford extortionist prices for what was once all yours for the price of a TV license .
