| 504326 | 2006-12-05 01:42:00 | :) Hi all. I recently switched to unlimited download capacity with my I P. I was into swapping music on a site called Dimeadozen.P2P Sharing. When I got unlimited broadband, I did so because the week Telecom unleashed broadband my download speed was affected badly. My previous speed was god forbid only 10kb to 20 kb if I was lucky. My new unlimited speed suddenly got me to 20kb to 60 kb on this P2P Dimeadozen site.Then within seconds of Downloading my downloads were going back to 0kb I fine downloading other types of files,they race in. My I P says P2P Sharing is not a priority for them. Im not sure what to do ,because Im basicly out of action on P2P. Can aynone suggest any ideas. As far as Im aware all Port are forwarded. Im using ABC Torrent downloader. Regards Steve |

My provider is Orcon who of course use Telecom lines. Just a cop out at there end maybe. The guy on the end of the phone at the help desk bragged about how here could P2P Share up to 8 files. Im only begging for 2 files. The downloads are legal as far as I know,there is know afficial released music allowed,they ban you otherwise. Steve |

| 504329 | 2006-12-05 02:30:00 | Telecom/Orcon doesn't care if it's legal or not, they only care that it's consuming their network. Is shaping traffic a bad thing? I'm not totally sure. I mean, bittorrent rapes bandwidth, especially at the expense of things that more people use (HTTP traffic etc). Read this: en.wikipedia.org for a bit more info. But I suspect this thread will quickly turn into a political/economic argument. But if you're getting 0kbps, it makes me think something else is wrong. Is it all torrents that are like that, or just certain ones (especially from that site). You're also relying on other people to keep uploading. If ports are all open properly, then you should be getting *some* speed for *some* torrents. Try download one of the linux image torrents as their likely to be healthy. |

I downloaded a legal file from the Internet Archive site based in America,all legal and okd by the artist. This site has all soughts of stuff the whole file rocketed in. Even American political speeches god forbid. Lots of film footage from history as well. So know problems there. Steve |
