504171 2006-12-04 09:45:00 Im currently trying to setup a wireless router with my existing modem/router.

Current Gear: Dynalink R770 Modem/Router/Switch. IP: 192.168.1.1
New Gear: Netgear WGR614 Wirless Router. IP:?

What do i need to set the IP's to on each to make them work together since they are both router? and which needs to be set to DHCP? Any other setting?

Thanks.

504172 2006-12-05 01:26:00 get a crossover cable and join them together via their uplink ports - if they're any good they'll sort themselves out, if they're even better you could get away with using a network cable(or patch lead - same thing), if not consult the manuals lol motorbyclist (188)
504173 2006-12-05 02:19:00 I believe the netgear IP is 192.168.1.1 also (it should say the IP on the bottom), so you'll have a conflict there. Remove the other router from the equation and plug the wireless router straight into your computer. I had a similar situation, so I disabled DHCP on the wireless router, and set the IP of the wireless router to 192.168.1.30 or something (must agree with DHCP settings of your other router). Then plug everything back in as normal. You shouldn't need to worry about a crossover cable as it should be autosensing. If there's one of those silly internet uplink port thingys on the netgear router, ignore it, just use the 4 ethernet jacks, this of course is only if your router is like this.

Give that a go.
