504635 2006-12-06 18:10:00 .... We are running from a 2003 server and all the pc's in the office running with Microsoft 2000 are having this problem. The Microsoft Windows XP computers seem to be running fine. Can anyone shed some light on this. Please, Please, Please!!!!!

This line steers me away from hardware problem. I think its more like a software config problem because as stated it seems to effecting win 2k OS machines.

I would also be inclined to check drivers. Make sure you are running the latest versions for win2k, pay particular attention to the network card driver.

Do you have I.T support ? if so make them aware of this.

These entrys look suspect

Do you know what this is
boogertmanct.co.za!!!!!!!

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = boogertmanct.co.za
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = boogertmanct.co.za
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = boogertmanct.co.za

I would resolve this before going any further.

504637 2006-12-06 20:40:00 These dont have to be in startup.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINNT\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nwiz] nwiz.exe /install

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvMediaCenter] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINNT\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O4 - Global Startup: WinZip Quick Pick.lnk = C:\Program Files\WinZip\WZQKPICK.EXE

But yup, if you're in NZ, those entries i-gordon posted look suss.

I would also install some kind of firewall.

Please excuse my very limited knowledge, but where do I check the drivers? I do kind of have I.T support but till now they have been of no help what so ever!

I-gordon

we all learn

If its effecting other win 2k machines at your work They should be more motivated to fix it ( I would be).

To get updated drivers we need to know more information about your hardware.

I think the best way at the moment is to concertrate on one area ie the hijack this logs then progress once the hjt is sorted. Ill (and I bet others) will be watching this thread.

504642 2006-12-08 04:58:00 FoxyMX,
I get as far as Start > Run and then there are no more tabs. I type in msconfig and i get a message saying my pc can't find that file.

Beama:
Should I do another "hijackthis" log?
alayne (11582)
504643 2006-12-08 05:33:00 the guys and girls helping with the HJT logs will tell you follow their prompts beama (111)
504644 2006-12-08 07:06:00 There is an alternative way to access the startup programs. Go to Start > Run > type in "services.msc" (without the quotation marks) and press Enter.

Cheers :)
