2006-12-08 06:12:00 | Will you upgrade to Vista? I myself know that Vista isn't necessary because XP is capable to do all the things humans being want So I see no reasons to upgrade to Vista, Due to costs, I ran the Vista something from microsoft which allows me to know if I can run Vista. The answer was yes i can run it although there has been websites online saying that a faster computer like a dual core machine is recommended and my friend wanted to get a Vista capable machine.I advise not. I heard things such as Norton have problems.I don't use Norton just to clarify that.Anyway.There aren't many programs supporting Vista . There's all these hype up saying there's alot of features with Windows Xp and that its benefitial to users What's the advantage of upgrading? Is there any?

2006-12-08 06:21:00 | I'll upgrade but only because I'll get it for nothing as part of my subscription to the Microsoft Action pack. | CYaBro (73) | |
2006-12-08 06:34:00 | Vista! Can't wait if I really need to run SATA HDD only. :groan: Old XP can't detect my SATA HDD. Wonder how's the new direct X going to be. :p Might be great for games. | PedalSlammer (8511) | |
2006-12-08 06:43:00 | You need an "I'll stick with Mac OS X" option. ;) As a Mac user, I would consider installing Vista in the future when I get an Intel based Mac. However, the only reason I would ever want to use it is to test websites in Internet Explorer 7, so the cost probably wouldn't be justified as Internet Explorer runs fine under XP in Virtual PC. | maccrazy (6741) | |
2006-12-08 06:54:00 | Security is a big hype for Vista - it is more secure than XP SP2 (and maybe linux, and [dare I say it] Mac) | pcuser42 (130) | |
2006-12-08 06:54:00 | Old XP can't detect my SATA HDD. That's more likely to be the mainboard not XP.

2006-12-08 07:01:00 | Could be the placebo effect on steroids, but vista rtm running under Virtual PC 2007 on an XP host seems faster than XP itself... | b1naryb0y (3) | |

2006-12-08 07:53:00 | Well if you are going to "run Vista as its ment to be" and everything HDCP,TPM etc then you need a new computer that has been certified by M$,ie HDCP monitor,HDCP graphic card that will have a TPM chip in them so you cant use pirate/copied movies/games/software etc. I cant wait to see what happens with peoples MP3 music collections.(Please verify the 20,000 originale cds HAHA).:D The real reason why Vista was made is because M$,movie/music/game/software componies want to try and stop pirateing and make more money for themselfs of course.;) In order to get you to upgrade like anything a new stereo/tv etc they make it a bit more flash,do a few more things, make it a bit better then the last one etc. Or they would not be able to get you to upgrade and spend so much money as you would say its just an os its the other things I need to do on it.:2cents: So M$ knowing that gamers are the ones that upgrade the most,M$ is using DX 10 as a must have, oh my look at that its so great/better etc,etc....(plus the games that use DX 10, I must get that game its so cool,oh I need to upgrade my computer and OS to play it the way its ment to be played of course!!)and this will bring the rest of the consumers along, as the gamers have parents, extented family, friends etc. OH and get ready for the media hype it will be..........
