| 505057 | 2006-12-08 01:51:00 | Hi all I have a website which I want to run on my own linux server - I have everything I need to do so - but I have some worries that my DSL link with Xtra might not always be available. I want to redirect from my xtra hosted site assuming my DSL link is up - does anyone know how this might be done? I can do the redirect in the HEAD section, but that doesn't check to see if the destination is live, I think. Any ideas? |

| 505058 | 2006-12-08 02:21:00 | Hello sjaxso :) Welcome to PressF1 Have a look at this website: www.zoneedit.com/ that website should be able to do what you want for free ( but the other way around e.g.: if your adsl link or server goes down that service will redirect people to another page with your website on it or a message saying that there is something wrong with your link) PS: You don’t know that Xtra does not allow servers on home adsl connection? (if you don’t trust me read there terms & conditions) |

| 505061 | 2006-12-08 02:56:00 | Oh, I want to use PHP and CMS and mySQL and stuff - xtra give you just a handful of cgi-scripts, you can't even use your own. They say it's a security risk to allow people to have custom scripts but the rest of the world's ISPs seem to manage it. |
