506091 2006-12-12 03:59:00 I have seen a number of PressF1 members mention Puppy Linux & I am wondering what the OS GUI like? stu161204 (123)
506092 2006-12-12 04:04:00 I'm sure its bark is worse than its bite. Just watch out when it lifts a leg, especially when it's rubbing against your leg. Graham L (2)

506094 2006-12-12 04:12:00 ... I am wondering what the OS GUI like?Well, it has, unsuprisingly, a great big wet-nosed, soulful-eyed puppy (en.wikipedia.org) on it. :p

You can see further screenshots of Puppy Linux here (shots.osdir.com) :)

506095 2006-12-12 05:22:00 I am downloading this using uTorrent on dial up, 5 hours to go, hope it is worth it, I couldn't get Damn Small Linux to connect to the internet. zqwerty (97)
506096 2006-12-12 07:30:00 puppy, loved it ,the version I tried was live cd which was able to save very small config file with my custom settings to the hard drive of the host pc for the next time I played with fido (puppy) at which time it loaded those custom settings on boot. In my opinion a great distro. beama (111)
506097 2006-12-12 21:01:00 It gets a 10 out of 10 from me.

Not only for being a great os but also a great tool to have ready when you need to fix something.

btw: If you really want the full affect, install it to your hdd....man that puppy's fast!!! I have it installed tripple-boot on my laptop along side winxp and suse 9.2...but I only ever seem to boot the puppy most of the time.

506098 2006-12-12 22:31:00 btw: Why not give your family and friends a puppy this year for christmas.

Burn a copy onto an rw for your family and friends this xmas, you could even customize the iso for the idividual with their own desktop/files and such, and they could add to it themselves as it's on a re-writable:thumbs:

Great for the busy house hold, give a copy to each member of the family, no more changing logins/settings on the family pc, eveyone boots their own os!!

506099 2006-12-13 03:29:00 So I have got the .iso and burnt it, boots ok, I can use the OS but Puppy cannot find my modem. Before when I used DSL, it found the modem but I could not configure it correctly. This time on Puppy the wizard tells me that each option offered is a fail. zqwerty (97)
506100 2006-12-13 04:52:00 Before when I used DSL, it found the modem but I could not configure it correctly.

Could you give more info pls?

So far I've only had to configure Cable/ethernet or dialup via lnternal lucent tech or else other external serial modems.

Although at present I'm having a play with a wg111v2 netgear wireless adapter and my linksys router...:waughh:
