506724 2006-12-18 19:20:00 im running NFS: carbon on a 256 nvidia gforce 6800gs. not 100% smooth but very playable ...

definantly recommend at least 256... and if u can afford, a 512 will obviously be better :)

Must be something wrong with your system. It runs smooth on mine.

I can run full settings in 1152x864 with a x800 which is not as powerful as a 6800GS so something IS wrong :horrified

(runs even better now that I have softmodded)

...and the right seller. ;)

I don't think memory size would be a problem for me anytime soon anyway....I don't really use any resolutions higher than 1024x768 on all of the games I play. And I don't play too much either lol.

Most of the time I'm either playing Black and White 2 (and its expansion) and King Kong at the moment. Anyone else played B&W2?

506730 2006-12-19 08:38:00 Well heres a thought: Which would you go for?

RADEON X1950XTX
Video Memory 512MB DDR4
Engine Clock 650MHz
Memory Clock 2GHz(1GHz DDR4)

Asus EN8800GTX
Video Memory 768MB DDR3
Engine Clock 575MHz
Memory Clock 1.8GHz (900MHz DDR3)

Ignore pricing. Just based on specs.
Friend was commenting to me about 2 x 1900XTXs vs the 8800GTX, I noted my suppliers don't have the 1900 now, just these 1950s. So between the two...........

506732 2006-12-19 12:21:00 I don't know much about graphics hardware specs other than what I've been reading over the past few days but what you really want for future proofing is a lot of pixel and vertex shader power on the chip. That's where all the exciting developments are happening at the moment - per pixel lighting and really cool water effects are likely to be routine within a couple of years. TGoddard (7263)
